Another End, Another Begining
So 2009 is almost over and it's about time for me to resume blogging, including the dreaded top 10 lists, although seeing how much this year sucked my list will most likely be top 5 lists. Plus I will also begin to more extensively blog about everyday happenings.

Octahedron - Why It's The Most Original of 2009
After weeks of bombarding myself with music I consider subpar I found something from this year that's really good. 2009 has been shaping up to be a terrible year for music. 'Boom Boom Pow' is the pinnacle of what people find cool and interesting but that song is the equivalent of being repeatedly skull fucked. Don't get me wrong the song is catchy, infectious, and everything Pop music should be, but the only question that I ask, is it a good song? A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to buy this album (and when I say buy, I went to the store and paid for it. No iTunes this time) and it's been mesmerizing. It's the equivalent of acoustic Prog. Rock. The opening track 'Since We've Been Wrong' with it's beautiful intro of near silence and synthesizers one wonders why this track hasn't been heard everywhere. 'With Twilight As My Guide' is another masterpiece Cedric Bixler-Zavala & Omar Rodriguez-Lopez are gods among men. This reminds me of why I miss At the Drive In.

Race to Witch Mountain
Is it possibly for a Disney movie to be the best thing out there right now? I dare say it is, aside from The Last House on the Left, I feel this was a pretty adequate movie. It had a story, it had action and it was downright fun. The Rock was extraordinary, and Carla Gugino reminded me that she is an actress who can perform in movies with her clothes on. I loved this movie. Although some parts were convoluted it was a welcome surprise that they left most of the science jargon to a minimum. The Rock is beginning to fit into the family friendly movie roll quite comfortably. And it doesn't bring down his street cred one bit.
Knowing
What happens when the numbers run out? I don't know I fell asleep. This was equally as horrible as The Day The Earth Stood Still, please stop making movies that star Nicholas Cage. And please no more end of the world movies in the near future, maybe hold them off until we know the end is near. Too many horrible movies this year, Oscar season I can't wait. I'm 100% confident the Star Trek wont suck, because J.J. Abrams is a GOD.

Dragonball: Evolution?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
This movie is an utter disappointment to anyone who considers themselves a fan of the original series. Quite possibly the worst movie in the world. Between this and Knowing I don't know what the hell hollywood has been thinking. A rundown, in the original series Son Goku seemed more childlike, the reluctant Antihero. In this movie he was a teenager and *gasp* going to high school. Blasphemy. I only sat through the whole thing hoping it would somehow get better, but it didn't. I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy sit through this garbage. It was Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li all over again, only worse. Please boycott this movie.

The Last House on The Left
I can't remember the last time a movie kept me on the edge of my seat. But I can certainly say that this one has done so. After the dismal, bleak, and unfortunate theatrical release of Watchmen it was a welcome surprise to see such an amazing movie. The cast of relative unknowns was top notch. The beginning of the movie played out with many normal horror/suspense cliché but the movie soon propelled past that and the second act was a revenge film that put Quentin Tarrantino and Eli Roth to shame. From the beginning of the movie, the characters made me feel for them, this movie was purely cinematic adrenaline. I felt ever scream, I felt the emotional and physical pain of all the characters. Though there were elements of torture porn laced throughout the second half it was done so effectively. I highly recommend that you guys go and see this movie. Much, much better than Watchmen.

Watchmen (My Review)
I'm confused by this movie. I don't wanna go out and say I hated the movie, but then I don' wanna say that I liked the movie. To me it was just OK. The cinematography was beautiful, it's how I pictured it reading the graphic novel panel by panel. The beginning (aside from the overtly brutal killing of The Comedian) was spectacular. I didn't really car for Nixon he seemed almost comical. But I loved the snapshots of Minutemen. That would have been appropriate for the Minutes to Midnight countdown, and even dare I say it the sex scenes. Speaking of which they weren't sexy at all. When I read the book after falling in love with the characters, I felt romance during the Dan/Laurie sex panels. But I felt disconnected from all the characters. I loved Jeffery Dean Morgan as The Commedian and I loved Rorschach, Jackie Earl Haley gets more and more amazing with each role he plays. For a more thorough review I need to see the Directors Cut after which I'll decide if I liked it or if I hated it.
